Nancy as a Community Midwife
Tivenan Publications Newcastlewest County Limerick is a family run publishing company established by the Murphy Family in order to facilitate the brain child of the company to publish her own material and avail of international marketing for publications.
Nancy Murphy penned the first childbirth book published in Ireland “Self Preparation for Childbirth” in 1993 and a second edition in 1996.
She is a mother, experienced midwife and ante- natal teacher. She has prepared many mothers for childbirth and delivered many, many babies. Nancy is a native of Boyle, County Roscommon and trained as a nurse at Stepping Hill Hospital, Cheshire and qualified as a midwife at St Mary’s Hospital Manchester.
Her varied career include working as staff midwife in the Hammersmith Hospital London, community midwife, Westminster and Haringey Area Health Authorities and midwifery sister at Hillingdon Hospital.
She now lives in Newcastlewest, County Limerick where she developed and built up a well-woman clinic. She is Clinic Nurse Manager of the Women’s Health Clinic, Newcastlewest, well-woman.info which provides comprehensive gynaecological and reproductive health services at primary care level. Services include ante natal classes which inspired her first publication and subsequently her recent book.
